BOWLING.
On Saturday last the Manawatu Centre Champion of Chumpions rinks contest was held. Both town and district clubs were fully represented, with the exception of Foxton, which defaulted to Levin.
Two rounds were decided. In tho opening games, Manawatu defeated Palmerston North champions, Takaro defeated Shannon, Woodville defeated Feilding and the Dan-’ nevirke four were too good for Terrace End, the wins being by a comfortable margin except in the last instance, which was decided only on the final head. Byes were drawn by Eketahunn, Northern and Pahiatua.
In the second round, Takaro, with a good lead, survived a late run by Levin, Manawatu lost to Eketahuna after a very close game. Woodville had a runaway win over Northern, and Dannevirke again scored with a win over Pahiatua.
The semi-finals were played between Woodville and Eketahuna and Dannevirke and Takaro. Woodville won, 28 to 20; Dannevirke won, 28—7.
The finals will be played on Woodville green between Dannevirke and Woodville Clubs. The Centre did not think it advisable to bring the two teams again to Palmerston North on the score of expense. DIXON CUP. Dixon Cup and Tucker badges: Foxton being the next challengers will play Feilding during next week. Northern Club is to play Takaro the holders of the Manson and Barr Cup on Wednesday or Saturday.
