ln the Magistrate’s Court to-day, before Mr. H. W. Bundle, S.M* David Russell Thompson, who was charged with being drunk while in charge of a motor-ear on January 24, was lined £lO and costs £3 195., and his license was cancelled for 12 months. The evidence showed

that defendant, a motor salesman, was driving a car along Princess Street in the early morning and knocked a man down, the latter receiving superficial injuries. The Magistrate said the accused was fortunate that ho was got called on to answer a manslaughter charge.
