POISONED THROUGH EATING APPLES.
THAT WERE NOT WIPED,
That parents should exercise extreme care in thoroughly examining fruit before giving it to their children to eat was demonstrated in Wanganui last Friday, when two little girls took poison into-their system by eating apples that had not been wipen • The apples were purchased from hawker and one each was given to the girls. Immediately after partaking of the fruit the girl’s legs became -temporarily paralysed. Their tongues became black, their eyes swollen, and their brains affected. The parents wasted no time in enlisting medical aid and antidotes were administered. The suffering of one little girl was rendered more acute because she ate a whole apple while her friend swallowed a few mouthfuls only.— Herald.
