DETERMINED SUICIDE.
Dunedin, Last Night
Frederick William Hughes aged 55, a blacksmith, a married man with a wife Irving at Dunedin, committed suicide determinedly at Alexandra this morning.
lie was employed on the Public Works at Cbatto Creek and went to Alexandra yesterday for medical advice.
He set out for Dunedin on the express and crossing a bridge lie jumped off the train, but was un hurt.
While proceeding back to Alexandra by motor lie jumped again, falling 500 feet. Although terribly injured lie was so determined to end his life that he cut his throat with a pocket knife, before help arrived, dying in a few minutes,
