S.M. COURT.
The usual monthly sitting of the local S.M. Court was held yesterdaybefore Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M. BY-LAW CASES. For riding a bicycle on a footpath within the borough Charles Johns was fined 5/- with costs 19/-; John S. Beaumont for driving a ear within the borough at an excessive speed was fined £2 with costs 13/-; George Swenson, on a similar charge was fined £2 with costs 7/-. W. T. Jewell, charged with (1) failing to register a car and (2) using a demonstration number was fined £1 and costs 7/on each occasion, together with 5/mileage. L. Coley, for riding a bike after dark without a light, was fined 5/with costs 7/-. LICENSING CASES. A. E. Starkie, licensee of the Post Office Hotel, was fined £2 with costs 7/- for serving a man with liquor after hours on 24th January. D. G. Robinson, for being illegally on the licensed premises of the Family Hotel on January ,24th was fined £2 with costs 7/- and a prohibition. order was granted on the application of the Police. CIVIL CASES. Judgement was given for plaintiff in the following civil undefended cases: — E. J. Murphy v. R. Andrews, claim 15/-, costs 8/-; same v. E. Wade. £2 16s Od. costs £1 11s 6d; E. M. McDonald £7 15s Od, costs £1 ,15s Gd; C. Rouse v. George Pupara, £7 3s Od, costs £1 15s Gd; Pain Alidone v. W. Hotorine £1 15s, costs 35/-; Hofmann & Son v. R. Pratt £2O 5s Gd, costs £1 10s Od; A. Davey v. E, Wade, £2, costs IG/- ; R. N. Speirs v. J. N. Rider £3 12s Od, costs £1 3s Gd. JUDGMENT SUMMONSES.
Charles Aldridge was ordered to pay A. N. Smith £1 11s Od forthwith in default seven days imprisonment.
Tnno Roiri was ordered to pay Edward Enricksen £27 11s Od plus costs £1 Us Gd forwith, in default 21 days, warrant suspended as long as defendant pays £1 per month, first payment 19th March.
