BOWLING.

To-morrow afternoon representatives of Fox ton will visit Levin and endeavour to secure the Kinneburgh Feathers from the present holders. These trophies have been in the hands of Levin bowlers for some years, and although only a few attempts have been made to wrest them by Clubs in the district, the holders have been successful in defending them over that long period. Recently an attempt was made by both Shannon and Otaki Clubs to outplay Levinites, Imt without suer cess. To-morrow Foxton will essay the task —the first time for about three seasons —and in addition to the rink required for this contest, it is hoped to take another three rinks to play “friendly” games. There are at present, a good number of names on the hoard at the pavilion, but players are still required to make up the lour rinks. Any players wishing to make the trip— don’t wait to be asked —should notify the secretary. Conveyance leaves the green at 1 o’clock. Says the Levin Chronicle: —The holders of the Kinneburgh Feathers —Messrs Pyke, Inder, Clements and Suhan —will be called upon to defend their right on Wednesday by a Foxton rink, who, with three other rinks from their town will come here on that day. If the Levinites win, they have to face a challenge from another Otaki rink. DIXON CUP. A match for the Dixon Cup was played at Feilding on Saturday, the challengers being a Shannon rink which was easily beaten. Although it is over two years since Feilding held the cup, the club has enviable record in these games (says a contemporary). The match against Shannon was the first since Feilding won the cup a week ago from Terrace End. Feilding’s rink proved too strong for Shannon, winning by 34 to 17. The teams were: —Shannon: Butt, D. Spencer, Whibley, E. Spencer (skip), 17; Feilding: Ross, Clapham, Quayle, Herdman (skip) 347 MANSON AND BARR CUP. Shannon played Danncvirke for the Manson and Barr Cup on Saturday, at Danevirke, and Avon the trophy after a great game, by one point, the final score being 19 to 18. Shannon did not gain a point until the sixth head, when one was scored. At the twentieth head Shannon required six to win and playing well secured three on that end and three on the tAventy-first head. The rinks Avere as folloAvs: —Dannevirkc: Chick, Clarke, Rankin, Bissell (skip). Shannon: Morgan, NcAvton, Murray, Gagliardi (skip). Shannon play ManaAvatu at Shannon next Saturday.
