BOWLING.
Yesterday afternoon another game for the Nye Ferns was played. Owing to ii misunderstanding regarding the paragraph published on Tuesday from the Levin Chronicle, Bryant did not meet the holders as anticipated, and in consequence a rink skipped by Nye tried conclusions with the holders of the Ferns. Barr being absent on holiday, Roore skipped for the holders, and Christie played substitute. The resultant game was an interesting one throughout, the scores on the twelfth head reading twelve all. For four successive heads then Roore notched two, which gave him a substantial lead. On the seventh head Nye got a five, and a single on the next, making the score 20—18 in Roore’s favour. The final head found Nye wanting four to win, but in this he was unsuccessful, Roore making another
single. Holders: Healey, Smith, Christie, Roore (s) 23 v. Mattar, Downes, Woods, N.ve (s) 19.
