The postal revenue for the quarter ended December 31 was £381,292, compared with £373,073 a year ago. The telegraph revenue amounted to £497,196, against £473,998 in the previous corresponding period (these figures include £289,570 from telephone exchanges, compared with £269,083 in the December quarter of 1924.) Savings Bank deposits in the same period amounted to £7,430,183, but the withdrawals showed an excess of £942,629 over this total. In the corresponding quarter for 1924, the deposits of £7,110,969 were also exceeded by the withdrawals to the extent of £580,0/0. In the last quarter, 21,636 accounts were opened and 18,298 closed, while the year previously, the figures were respectively 20,333 and 16,414.
