LOCAL RAILWAY INSPECTION.

A special train comprising an engine and two carriages brought the chairman of the Railway Board, Mr. F. J. Jones, Mr. A. \Y. Mouat, member of the Board, and Messrs. W. H. Hales, divisional superintendent for the North Island, Lynde, chief mechanical engineer, J. F. Macklcy, loco engineer for the North Island, J. Cameron, district traffic engineer and C. J. Jeffreys, district engineer, to Foxton yesterday afternoon, on the annual tour of general inspection. On Tuesday night Mr. P. J. Hartland, assistant district traffic engineer, was also in Foxton. The officials, after conferring with the Harbour Board secretary, agreed to allow the Board to go on with decking of the Harbour Board siding.
