REDS’ HOLD ON CHINA.
BRITISH BOYCOTTED
CALCUTTA, Jan. 4. Sir Percival Phillips, one of the members of the Empire Press Delegation, who, after leaving Australia, visited China, is now in Calcutta. In the course of an interview he said that the Russian Bolsheviks were busy consolidating their position, both in the south and in the north of China. They wero particularly busy in the north, where the two chiefs contres of concentration were Kalzan and Loyang. In the south the Russians were content with the role of prompters of the civil administration which they
nd created. There had been no relaxation of the
rigid boycott against the British in Canton, while the British Consul at Swatow had been left lor fivo months without a servant.
