DESIRABLE SETTLERS.
EX-SERVICE MEN
LONDON, Jan. 5. The War Office and the Admiralty are encouraging Dominion officials to address the Navy and the Army on migration. Mr J. Barnes (of Australia House immigration staff) will address 5000 troops at Aldershot and 3000 at Tidwortb, on the site of the Australians’ cani]> on Salisbury Plain, and later a big assembly of navy men at Ports-
mouth. It is stated that many thousands of married soldiers and ex-service men are ready to emigrate under the group settlement scheme.
It is pointed out that Australia at present has the chance of securing thousands of most desirable settlers, who shortly will not be available ow-
ing to Canada’s competition and the steady improvement of Britain’s trade.
