YOUNG MAN KILLED AT FEILDING.

RUN OVER BY EXPRESS TRAIN.

Some time during Thursday night a young man named Denis Francis Geaney met his death by being run over by a train in the vicinity of Bnnnythorpe. The circumstances which led up to the tragedy can only be presumed as nobody witnessed the occurrence. The first person to be aware of the fact that somebody had been killed seems to be Mrs E. P. Heggie, who lives on tlie railway road at Bnnnythorpe, adjacent to what is known as Richardson’s crossing. At about (i a.m., noticing the body lying alongside the rails, she informed her husband.

The police were communicated with and Constable Bell, of Palmerston North, proceeded to the locality and supervised the removal of the body to the morgue. Deceased was 21 years of age and a labourer by occupation. He resided at Feilding with his brother, Mr.J. D. Geaney, of 11 Sandilands St., and was last seen alive by him at 6.30 p.m. on Tuesday. Other relatives reside at Rotorua.

It is assumed deceased met his death by being run into by the north bound “Limited” late on Thursday night. An inquest will be held at 9.30 a.m. on Wednesday.
