BOWLING

NYU FERNS MATCH. Weather condilions yesterday were good for bowls, and the local green was well patronised by members. The principal game was that played between a rink skipped by Walker and Barr’s rink for the Nye Ferns. This match proved interesting throughout, the scores being suffiiciently even to make the outcome doubtful almost until the final head. However, Barr’s rink (holders) gained a small lead early in the game, which advantage they maintained throughout, and finally defended the trophies by a margin of four points. The details are as follows: —

Holders: Healey, Smith, Roore, Barr (s) 17. Challengers: Mattar, Ferreau, Nye, Walker (s) 13. The next challenge for the Ferns will be by a rink skipped by Thomson.
