TENNIS.

The Tennis Tournament proceeding at Linton Street Courts were hindered by rain yesterday. To date 109 games out of the total 430 have been completed. The results of Fox ton players games played are as under: —

• Championship: —Mr. J. L. Proctor defeated M. R. Smith in the first round the score being 7-5, 6-3, and in the second round was defeated by R. T. Young, 6-3, 6-1. Miss P. McMurray defeated Miss M. Guy in the first round, 6-3, 6-1, and lost to Miss J. Ramsay, 6-0, 6-3, in the second round. Miss E. Owen defeated Miss M. Morrison, 3-6, 6-4, in the first round.

Handicap: —In the first round of the handicap singles, Miss Owen (20) defeated Miss M. Sim (10) 50-47, and Miss McMurray (4) wasdefeated by Miss Litchfield (scr.) 50-46.
