CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor). Sir. —Please allow me space in which to utter a protest against the opinion expressed by C'r. Adams when dealing with correspondence from the Palmerston North Tlospilill, when he slated that hundreds only weal there for a “rest cure,” which statement is as false as it could he. I know something of the conditions as prevail at the hospital from my own observation while visiting it every Sunday during a period of four months, and venture to say that Or. Adams has never visited tliat institution or can lie prove his .statement. IP’s remarks cannot go unchallenged by the public, as they not only insult those who are unfortunate enough to have |o enter therein, hut also an insult to Ihe medical men who order them there, and everyone connected with the hospital. His attack on the unfortunate sufferers, is hitting below the bell. A little more knowledge of those things that come before the Council is required. Of course one does not expect Cr. Adams to know that the increasing population needs increasing accommodation at the hospital, and extra patients mean extra laundry facilities, and criticism needs knowledge of the subject, and the less Cr. AleAlurray says on his present knowledge the better. In conclusion [ would take this opportunity of challenging Cr. Adams to resign his seat, or prove his charges. Dare he do it? He is looking for a fight I am open to accommodate him, Yours etc., E. G. MARTIN.
