MONTHLY SITTING

The monthly sitting of the loeal S.M. Court was held yesterday before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.AI. PROHIBITION ORDER. On the application of the police a prohibition order was granted against Thomas Murphy. BY-LAW CASES. John Jellymnn for driving a ear without a license was tinecl 10/wiili costs. Kenneth 11. Taylor for driving a ear at an excessive pace within the borough was lined £2 with costs 7/-. On similar charges George Walton, L. A. Conlan, J. McDonnell, W. Sharplcy, 11. Morrison, U. Caravan, R. Sutherland, A. Ale Grail, 11. HayWood, -J. Ale Karla no, F. Lowe, P. Hartwell, P. J. O'Kooke, J. Dearth and Sidney Smith were each fined £2 with cost 7/-. Costs in the ease of A. W. McDonold similarly convicted, were 8/-. STOLEN TRIPE.

Allan Harper was charged with stealing sjlbs tripe, valued at 2/fi, the property of the Foxton Aleat Co.

In outlining the ease Constable Owen said Ilial on Ihe night of 21st November, Constable Ryan noticed accused go down the ally way at the side of the Foxton Aleat Co.’s shop in Main Street. Constable Ryan followed accused and was just in time to see him making off with the tripe.

Accused, who pleaded guilty, stated than on the night in question he went down the allyway in search of his bike. He saw some tripe in a barrel and took a piece for his dog. He was sorry he had done so.

Constable Owen said that Harper would not have taken the meat if he had been sober at the time. Convicted and fined £1 with costs 7/-. Accused made application for the suppression of his name from publication, but the Magistrate pointed out that that was part of the punishment. CIVIL CASES. Judgment was given for plaint ill by default in the following civil casses: —T. W. Winstanley and Sou (Mr. Bergin) v. M. McGregor, £25 17/9, costs £5 1/fi; D. Ball v. T. Murphy £2 15/0 costs 8/-.
