BOWLING.

GALA DAY AT FOXTON

Yesterday a gala day, as arranged by the Manawatu Centre, was held on the local green. Rinks representing Shannon, Levin, Terrace End, Palmerston North, Takaro, and Northern Clubs were present and participated in play, which proved a very successful and enjoyable afternoon. Messrs. J. A. Nash, M.P. (president of the Centre) and J. Linklater, M.P., were present at the opening of play. Rev. W. II." Walton (president) welcomed the visitors, expressing pleasure at the attendance of representatives of six clubs in the Centre, and wished them an enjoyable afternoon.

Play throughout the games was of a close and interesting nature, the scores in two instances actually being equal on the completion of the twenty-first head; an extra head was played to decide the conquerors, Pox ton rinks in both instances making one point. The details of play were as follows : ' -V Foxton: Mattar, Barr Thomson, Roore (s) 10 v. Terrace End: Ashton, Mills, Snell, Dunealfc (s) 16. Foxton: Healey, Downes, Huntley, Nye (s) 10 v. Palmerston: Boon , Wall, Boniface, Crump (s) 16. Shannon: Franks, Waterston, Butt, Murray (s) 28 v. Foxton: Winstanley, Walker, Woods, Walton (s) 23.

Levin: Clements, Pink, Durham, P. Clements, (s) 24 v. Pearson, Bryant, Admore, Christie (s) 20. Takaro: Stone, Clark, Mortland, Morgan (s) 21 v. Foxton: Smith, Parkes, Spring, Whibley (s) 13. Levin: Monks, Anderson, Suhan, Bull (s) 23 v. Northern: McLeod, Bryant, Stallard, Cunningham (s) 17*

One rink, consisting of Mattar, Barr, Roore and Nye, intend competing in the Woodville tournament during the Christmas holidays.
