SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the above was held on Tuesday evening. Present: Messrs. Perreau (chairman), Rev. Walton (secretary), Barron, Cowley, J. K. Hornblow, F. Woods, R. Rangiheuea and the headmaster (Mr F. Mason). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs •Jno. Ross and A Stevenson.

Correspondence was read from the Board re the old school house, which the committee had recommended to accommodate manual classes, and which recommendation had been turned down by the Department.

It was explained that the Board decided to take over the building at expiration of its lease of a building used for woodwork classes. The opinion of the committee was that it would not be justified in incurring expenditure in renovating the building and connecting it with the water and drainage system.

It was resolved to ask the Board to take over the building as previously agreed upon and to urge the Board to erect suitable accommodation for secondary school purposes. Accounts in connection with subsidy grant were discussed and passed for payment. Mr. Barron moved a motion,, to the effect that the Board be written to entering an emphatic protest against the publication in the press of |he proficiency examinations before the headmaster had been officially notified of the results. The motion was carried unanimously. Votes of thanks were passed to Messrs. Tver and McKnight lor dona ling special prizes. Details in connection with the breaking-up ceremony and concert were dealt with. The action of the secretary in a i ranging with Mr limit to have the tennis court puf in order during the liolidavs was endorsed.

The chairman cordially welcomed Mr. Hornblow hack to the commiitec mid tendered season’s greetings to members which were heartily reciprocated.
