ACCIDENT TO FOXTON MOTORISTS.

COLLISION ON WAIKANAE BRIDGE.

TWO INJURED

(Special to Herald). OTAKI, This Afternoon

A collision took place on the Waikanae Bridge this morning between a motor lorry and a ear driven by Mr. A. E. Tongs, of Foxton. Mr. Tongs was proceeding to Wellington and was accompanied by Mrs Tongs and his son, Mervyn, and Airs Stone and Aliss Alister, also of Foxton. The car was badly damaged and Alervyn Tongs was cut about the face and head and was removed to a private hospital at Otaki

Miss McAlister was cut about the scalp, and was also removed to hospital. Fortunately both Mr. and Mrs Tongs and Mrs Stone escaped injury, but were badly shaken.

Particulars of the accident are scarce, but word received from Otaki at midday were to the effect that the collision took place on the Waikanae Bridge, when a motor lorry failed to notice the approach of Air. Tongs’ ear. Mr. Tongs and party left for Wellington early this morning on a business trip and intended to return to Foxton this evening.
