ARTILLERY CAMP.
The Sth Battery struck tents today and entrained for Palmerston North, after a week’s camp on the uicecourse. Portion of the battery made the trip by road. Last week the artillery section from the Boy’s High School, under Lieutenant Dash, was taken to camp for Lhe day. These boys arebeing trained for the batteries, and were given an opportunity of witnessing the working of the guns, as well as field manoeuvres. Watching the shooting from the observation post, as well as from the gun position, the boys were lectured on the various duties of the gunners. All were keenly interested and were willing to stay for the full course of training. The boys were in uniform and entered fully into the life of the camp. A dance was given by the battery to a party of Palmerston North visitors who motored down for the occasion on Wednesday night. Some time was spent in viewing the camp, various phases of the life under canvas being explained to the visitors by the hosts.
