SUNDAY EXCURSIONS.
CHEAP TRIPS TO FOXTON BEACH. At Tuesday’s meeting of the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce the staf ionmaster (Mr. J. J. O’Shea) reported that the Railway department had decided to run Sundy trains to Foxton. The scheme would come into operation December 21), and the ‘express’ would be run at excursion rates. Arrangements bad been made with the carriers nl Foxton to take the passengers from the station to the. beach for one shilling return. The fare on the train would be 4/- first class and 2/fi second class. Should the new venture prove satisfactory there was a possibility of excursion trains being run to Paekakariki and Plimmerton, but this would not eventuate for some lime vet and tlion would probably be only ran on alternate Sundays. Tiie chairman, Mr. 11. L. Young, rioted that be was sure the new service would be very popular during the summer months and on behalf of the Council, thanked Mr. O'Shea for bis representations to the Department. —(M.D. Times).
