The second round of tin l Triangular Shield Contest was played at Shannon yesterday afternoon, mid eh ideal conditions.

The result of play was to see Levin inqirove their position, the aggregates to date being as follows: —Levin (4 rinks) 94 points; Shannon (0 rinks) 110 points; Foxton (0 rinks) 98. The details are as follows: —

Shannon: Aim, Burns, Clayton, Gagiiardi (s) 28 v. Fox ton: Christie, Woods, Admore, Nye (s) 16. Shannon: Butt, Beard, Bovis, Jones (s) 19 v. Foxton: Winstanley, Head, Thomson, Roore (s) 17. Levin: Smaille, Challies, Hawke, Clements (s) 25, v. Shannon: Newton, Thurston, B. Spencer, E. Spencer (s) 16. Levin: Monk, Pyke, Percy, Bull (s) 15 v. Shannon: Bartholomew, Watterston, Butt, Roach 15.

A meeting of the committee of the Shannon Bowling Club was held on Friday evening last, when final arrangements were made for the official turning on of the electric light at the green, which will take place next Saturday evening (says the News). Already a large number of members of outside Clubs have signified their intention of being present. A large attendance is anticpated and the public are invited to be present. There will be novelty bowling competitions, including blind-fold drawing and the most.exi) citing if all “La Bowla.” This will bo the first time a La Bowla competition has been introduced in this district, and the fun to be created from this pastime will keep those present amused for hours. It is hoped to be able to have the grounds illuminated by coloured lights and if successful, the grounds should present a gay appearance, everything pointing to those who attend having a good evening’s enjoyment.
