ILLEGAL OPERATIONS ALLEGED.
TWO DEATHS IN CHRISTCHURCH.
Christchurch, November 9,
In connection with deaths allegedly due to illegal operations, the police are making inquiries in the ease of Rita Louise Roach (aged 25), who died at the Christchurch Hospital on Saturday night. Myrtle Veronica Thompson (aged It)), the girl who died in the hospital yesterday gave evidence to a Magistrate that an operation was performed in a house in Linwood by Amy Glen, a, young married woman. Glen is now under arrest, and the charge against her will probably be increased to one of manslaughter. An inquest was opened this morn! ing on Myrtle Veronica Thorpe, known as Thompson. Her father gave evidence that the girl became ill on October 22, and a doctor sent her to hospital on November 3. The inquest was adjourned till November 1G to allow a postmortem examination to be made.
