FOXTON PLUNKET SOCIETY.

The monthly meeting of the Foxton Plunket Society was held yesterday. Present: —Mesdames F. Robinson, (Pres), Austin-Johnston, Pearson, Trueman, A. Ross, Barron, Chrystall, and McMurray. Apologies were received from Mesdames Whlton, Christie, Owen, McDonald, Proctor and Downes. The nurse reported visits as follows: —To Foxton 5, homes 11, office 74, children 97, new cases 5. Mesdames Austin-Johnston, Pearson, Downes were accorded a special vote of thanks for their efforts in organising the children’s ball which resulted in £lO 14/- being added to the Society’s fund.

It was decided to order literature as advised by Nurse Jones. Mesdames Barron and McMurray were appointed visitors and Mrs. Austin-Johnston, flower steward, for the month.

Proceeds from Mr. Healey’s weighing machine amounted to 9/4-J and room contributions to 3/8. The public are asked to support the Society which is doing good work for mothers and babies and is entirely dependent upon public support to meet the annual expenditure of approximately £7O. Accounts amounting to £2O 11s lOd were passed for payment. CHILDREN’S BALL. On Friday evening, the children’s ball in aid of the Plunket Society’s funds was held in the Town Hall. Mesdames Austin-Johnston, Pearson, Downes comprised the executive committee to whose efforts a great deal of the success of the function was due. Mr. J. Aiken, of Moutoa, acted as M.C. The music was supplied by Mr. Hori George’s orchestra and the thanks of the Society are due to Messrs. Tongs, Perreau, Scott, IT. R.eid,« W. E. Barber, AY. Ross, YY. Adams, Mrs Walls, Williams, and others who contribulcd -cash, etc. After supper the dancing was continued for adults. The proceeds amounted to £lO 14/-. The Society desire to specially thank all those who contributed towards the supper.
