ALL SAINTS’ CHURCH.
At a meeting of the Rangitikei Church Association, held a little time ago, it was decided that, in order to encourage the development of Church music, the choirs of the various parishers should combine for the different church festivals, as is the custom in England. The Vicar of All Saints, Palmerston North, has invited the vicars and choirs from Foxton, Feilding, Marlon, Terrace End, Bulls and Rongotea to the Palmerston festival. The music will be for a full choral Evensong, consisting of special hymns, Psalms, etc. The Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis will be Dr. Bunnett’s in F, Dyke’s Te Deum, and a special anthem. The preacher will be the Rev. Fielding Taylor of Wellington. At a meeting of All Saints’ choir held last night, fifteen members of the choir signified their intention of going to the above. The festival will be held on October 29th (Thursday), at 7.30 p.m. It is intended that the same music shall be given in Foxton on All Saints’ Day, Sunday, November Ist., which will he the 49th festival of the local •church. The preacher on that occasion will he the Rev. (Canon Petrie, M.A., vicar of Fielding. The vicar has received promises from neighbouring vicars that next November (1926), when All Saints Foxton, will hold its jubilee, special efforts will by made for a festival week at Foxton. All former vicars will be invited to spend the week in Foxton, and a great re-union of old parishioners will take place.
