BOWLING
OPENING OF FOXTON GREEN. To-morrow afternoon, at 2 o’clock, weather permitting, the local bowling green and croquet court will be opened by the president (Rev. W*. H. W'alton) for (he season’s play, and the various trophies played for by croquet members during the past season will be presented to the winners.
As usual, invitations have been issued to clubs in the surrounding districts, and i( is anticipated the attendance will be equal at least to that of previous years in the Club’s history.
The general public and bowlers who may at present be on holiday in Foxton, are also invited to be present.
Local bowlers are requested to be in attendance as early as possible in order to faeiliate the business of arranging rinks to compete with the visitors.
Bowlers and croquet players are reminded that they should bring a basket, for the purpose of assisting with the catering arrangements.
The following are the dates notified as the opening days of various dubs: —Shannon, 17th inst.; Levin and Woodville, 21st inst.; Alanawatu and Terrace End, 24th inst.
