MANAWATU-HOROWHENUA RUGBY UNION.
The final meeting of the Mana-watu-llorowhenua Rugby Union was held at Palmerston North over llie week end, Air A. Ilannnv presiding. Those present were: —Messrs. T. Collins and J. AY. Procter (vice-presidents), S. Austin, \\ r . Oarrnthers, AY. S. Dustin, K. AA. Eglinton, J. R. Hardie (treasurer), 1. AY Rimmcr, F. Robinson, and J. B. Proud (secretary). The balance-sheet- for the first season's operations, after making provision for all contingencies, shows a credit of £154 19s sd.
The question of the selection of Manawhenua teams was discussed at length. Although the general opinion was in favour of a sole selector, no definite action towards securing reform was taken. The Union passed a motion expressing appreciation of Ah'. G. Luoni’s action in presenting gold medals for best back and forward in the Wellington match, Mr. Arthur (Rangi) Wilson was adjudicator and awarded them to K. D. Rrophv and K. Reid. Mr. Harold Baker manager of the N.S.W. team, wrote thanking the Union for the good time the visitors had had here and stated that the players had enjoyed their stay in Palmerston North better than anvwhere else.
The question of limiting travelling - expenses of representative players was discussed and a recommendation made that the 1926 committee fix a definite scale.
