RAILWAY DISASTER
INQUIRY OPENED TO-DAY.
The eommision appointed to inquire into the accident to the W ol-lington-Napier express at Opapa . ecentlv opened its sittings at the Vo'linglon Magistrate's Court this joining. The members of the commission are .Messrs. \\. G. Riddell, S.M. (chairman), .). Miircbbanks (engineer to Wellington Harbour Board), and W. D. limit (manager of the Wellington branch ol Messrs. Wright, Stephenson, and Go.) The Railway Department was represented by Messrs. M. Myers, ICO., and M. Deimeby (solicitor for the Department). The engine-driver of the wrecked train has not recovered sulhcienth to be able to allend, and the day’s preceding were confined to the lak,,ig df expert evidence from officers :if the Department.
