BEACH NOTES

A meeting of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union was held recently at the residence of Mrs. Whitehead, Foxton Beach. The President, Mrs McDonald, presided over the meeting which was well attended. The business of the meeting was proceeded with, several letters being read and dealt with. Later a portion of the Scripture was read, and a collection taken up. Mrs McDonald gave the ladies afternoon tea, and the meeting closed. ( A meeting of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union was held on Thursday afternoon at the residence of Mrs Alsop, Foxton Beach. The President, Mrs McDonald presided. A very interesting letter was read from Miss Hardie, Land our, India giving a good account of the work done in the mission field there. A letter was also read from Miss Oliver, of Palmerston North. Attention was drawn to the fact of Dr Harvie, medical student of Otago UniverIsity, intends taking up work as medical missionary abroad. Three new members joined. During the afternoon, members were busy making tilings for the babies in India. After the business of tlie meeting was over, afternoon tea was provided by Mrs .Alsop which was much enjoyed by.all.
