Marton, October 3.

Mr. Alfred Lyon, solicitor, Marton, is announced as the National candidate for the Rangitikei. There are now three candidates, the others being Mr. Glenn (Reform) and Mr. Duggan (Labour). Wanganui, October 3. Mr George Edie, proprietor of Birchwood Estate, lias decided to contest the Wallace electorate in the National Party’s Interest, hitherto represented by Mr. J. C. Thomson, who is retiring voluntarily. Ashburton, October 3. Mr. H. Jones, who contested the seat formerly, announces his Candida tour for Ashburton as a Liberal.

We regret to state that. Mr, Ben Roberts, Labour candidate for Manawatu, has been taken suddenly ill. It will be impossible for Mr. Roberts, under the circumstances, to fulfil any engagement in the next two or three days.
