HERD-TESTING.

MINISTER DECLINES TO SANCTION SUBSIDY. Wellington, Last night. So many protests have been received from various parts of the Dominion that the Minister of Agriculture (lion. W. Nosworthy) is reluctant to sanction a subsidy to herd-testing asked by certain sections of the fanning community. Tn explaining this to the House this evening, Mr. Nosworthy said he preferred to earrv on the system upon which the Government at present; operated. Mr. E. A. Ransom (Pahiatna) : “Is the Department prepared officially to recognise the tests if they are carried on by Ihe Association?” Mr. Nosworthy: “I am prepared to defend our present system and am not going to depart, from it."
