MAN CARRIED FOR MILES.
SEEKING MEDICAL AID. llokilikia, August 28. Following tiu Okuru settler named Adam Cooper being taken ill, he was brought to Hokitika for treatment, entailing the man being carried on a stretcher from Okuru to Mahitahi. Thirty-six men gave their services in relays of Jive-min-ute spells from Haast to Paringa, which took fourteen hours. He was then carried on horseback seven miles, and from Mahitahi to Karangarua in a trap, where a mo-tor-car brought the patient here. The sufferer stood the journey well, and is now progressing.
