The seamen's strike on British steamers at Auekland continued todav. and owing to the non-arrival id' insl met ions from the owners of the vessels in England, no attempt was made hy the local agents to tiring about a settlement ol the dispute. The Ilidlinside’s erew and the Arab lii'emen on the Benicia resumed duly, and the crew of the Zinal threw in their lot with the si rikers.
It is stated that the 1 lollinside’s crew resumed because the owners decided to concede the mens rec.uest. and that after the present charter has been completed the men will not have their wages reduced 1 1 v £1 per month. At -I o'clock the Ifollinside sailed for Nauru. The steamer Maimyo arrived tonight from New York. Ller crew are on British articles. It is not known whether they will be a fleeted bv the strike.
