FOXTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting 1 of the above Wits held in the schoolroom last evening'. Present: Messrs M. E. Perreau (chairman), F. Woods, D. Barron, A. Stevenson, E. Cowley, J. Boss and the Secretary (Rev. W. 11. Ross, Rev. W. IT. Walton (secretary) and F. A. Mason (head mas- ! ei).

Resolutions were passed dealing with finance, elec trie light at si hoolhouse, for which a tender \v;ts accepted. Also a circular was teceived from Mr L. M. Isitt, in reference to his Bill on religions exercises in schools. On the motion of Rev. W. 11. Walton, seconded by Mr .John Ross, the following resolution was carried: —"That the Foxton School Committee endorses Mr I sin’s Bill, and heartily supports the measure.”

'fhe headmaster presented his report, ;ts follows: —The Foxton school children were asked to collect funds for the Hospital Comforts Fund, and badges were sold by the children. The amount collected wits the largest of any school ill the whole of the Mnnawaiu district, namely £4 12s (Id. Arbour Day; This day was celebrated at (lie school by the planting of a number of trees and shrubs. Mr Long, the Agricultural Instructor, being present. During the month Mr Lungworth, the Board’s physical instruction inspector, paid it visit to the school, and expressed great pleasure at the progress of the work. The average attendance for lbe month was 93.4; number on roll IDS. Te Wharangi School roll number, 39. Miss Evans has been appointed teacher at Te Wharangi, in place of Mr Christophersoji, resigned.

Tenders are to be called shortly lor cutting down the trees along Duncan Street; also for the improvement work in the school grounds, which includes concreting right round the school building, seals for the children, and other improvements, which it is anticipated will make the Foxton School look the best kept or any in the whole of the Board’s district.
