PREFERENCE TO MILKING MOTORS.
DURING NEXT TWO MONTHS
“During the next two months,” said the chairman of the Horowhenun Power Board (Mr Monk), at Tuesday’s meeting, “we will have to concentrate on milking plants, and we may find it necessary to neglect other work somewhat.” The Chairman pointed out that unless the milking plants come on to the power before the season commenced, they were not very likely to come on during the milking season. He impressed on members of the Board that the policy would be to get as many milking motors connected up as possible, both for the convenience of farmers and the Board’s finances. The position might become somewhat acute so far as other work was concerned. Mr Barber said the farmers in his area were looking very anxiously for the motors, and he considered they should put as many in as possible
Mr Gunning said that unless the motors were in for the beginning of the season, farmers would probably fix up their engines again. In answer to Mr Ross, the Engineer said one difficulty was materially. They might have, owing to shortage, to take it from other jobs, and there might be a number of complaints from people who wanted lighting installations. The monthly return showed that 12S milking motors were connected .up to July 14th, of at total horsepower of 201 J.
