CHECKED RAILWAY LUGGAGE.

CONCESSIONS TO PASSENGERS

A more liberal policy in regard to checked luggage has been adopted by ibe Railway Board. Passengers will now be permitted to check their luggage at any time up (o 14 days preceding the date of travel without any charge for storage, and the present privilege of one month’s free storage at the destination station will be continued. To overcome the pressure on existing storage accommodation which tlie new facility will entail, and to provide for the additional business which the removal of the restriction referred to is expccted to attract, the board has decided to put in hand the necessary extensions to the present buildings. The recent extension of the privilege of post-dating tickets lias been giehtly appreciated by the public and it is anticipated that the jwechPeking of luggage for a similar period will prove an equally valuable convenience to intending travellers.

Under the new arrangements a passenger will be able lo make a satisfactory arrangement for liis luggage any reasonable time before l.is departure, and thus get rid of those last-minute baggage worries which detract so much from the pleasure of travel. The gain will be particularly felt at holiday times.
