LEVEL CROSSING ACCIDENT.

Napier, July (1. A twelve-sen ter char-a-banc bringing twenty children to school from Riverbend road collided with the Eskdale train, on the Taradale road, this morning. Several of the children were injured, some seriously.

The car was cut in two, the hack of the overhanging portion being taken off.

The railway track is in full view for hundreds of yards, but apparently the driver failed to notice the train until within a few yards of it. when it was too late to avoid a smash.

Three children arc in hospital as a result of the char-a-banc accident, namely, Mavis Holder, aged 0 years, fractured right leg, abrasions and shock; Eric Holder, aged 13, fractured left leg; Eric Hodgkin.son, aged 11, badly cut- about the jaw and mouth. All the other children escaped with shock.

It is slated that the driver did not see the train until the children called out.
