FOXTON CLUB’S ANNUAL REPORT. The following is the annual report of the Committee of the Foxton Bowling Club, to be submitted to the annual general meeting of members, advertised to take place in the supper-room of the Town Hall on Wednesday next, loth instant : Your Committee have pleasure in presenting the balance-sheet and statement of receipts and expenditure for the year ending June 30th, 1925. Your assets, after allowing for depreciation, stand at £537 13s -Id, liabilities £213 Os fid, leaving, a surplus of £324 12s lOd. During the year the important work of installing the water and drainage system was completed, also the ladies’ croquet green was considerably enlarged, and at the same time the playing area was dug up, additional soil added, and resown, the result of which is that the.* croquet green is now considerably improved. The ladies of the Crc Yj (piet Club are to he commended ft?, !: this very excellent work, the whole.:.: cost of which was provided l>v the. united efforts of the ladies. It haS'L to he recorded with deep regret that during the year the Bowling ’ Club lost a highly esteemed member in the death of Mr A. Heasman. The sympathies of Club members were with our old and esteemed member, Mr Wiiibley, in the loss which he sustained.
During the playing season keen interest was taken by members not only in the Club competitions, but also in the inter-club visits, and in connection with the latter, the innovation of mapping out a programme of visits proved a complete success. The Wilford Cup competition (a pairs tournament) was keenly contested for, Messrs Powell and Admore proving their right to hold the trophy for the year. The Triangular contest (Levin, Foxton and Shannon) once more proved to he a popular fixture. Levin carried off the honours, with Foxton second, Shannon third. The Club was also represented in contests for the Dixon Cup, Champion of Champions and the Munson and Barr Cup. A noticeable feature of the year’s play was the increasing number of playing members available for Saturday play. \ our Committee recommend that every encouragement he given towards popularising play on that particular day. The thanks of the Club are due to Mesdames Head and Huntley for supervising afternoon tea for Saturday players, and the Club is indebted to the members of the Ladies’ Croquet Club for supervise* ing the Wednesday afternoon teYarrangements, and to Mrs for supervising the purchasing,;?../:? victuals. Your Committee regret/ the resignation of our secretary, Mr E. Huntley, who has been not only a source of strength to the Club in the past two years, but has proved himself an ideal secretary. The approaching season gives every promise of being highly successful, and we hope that members will do their utmost to uphold the prestige of the Club. Your Committee desire to thank the following members for service rendered the Club during the season: Mr D. Wiiibley (green superintendent), Messrs A. E. Admore, D. Christie, J. M. Thomson, S. Head.
