Xew Plymouth. June 2!). James Seanlan, lift'd Id, on the ■•] lernld" reporting staff, disappenrod from near tin* Summit of Paritiilu on Sunday afimmoon. He and a companion named Stephenson had undertaken to climb the rock, which is 500 feet high, and were quite close to the summit, when Seanlan, who was an experienced climber, decided to climb round a difficult rock while Stephenson took the easier track. When the latter readied the summit a few minutes later there was no sign of Seanlan, who apparently had missed his footing; and fallen. Search parties were sent out and two young men climbed the rook in the darkness, but- no .trace was found. Search was resumed this morning, when signs of a fall were found, indicating that the body will be found in the sea at the base of the rock.
