The Foxlon Silver Hand held a successful meeting on Monday evening, when the rules were discussed and revised. Mr ■). K. Ilondilow has hcen reappointed Government representative on the Fox ton Fire Hoard lor a further period of two years. The ease in which a voting married man is charged with indecently assaulting a young gii'l, adjourned from Wednesday of last week, was heard behind closed doors at the local Police Court to-day. The ease was proceeding ns we went to press. Wjtli reference io the contemplated closing of the Otaki Hospital. as proposed by the Health Department, the “Otaki Mail’’ reports that Mr, W. H. Field, M.P., had an interview with Sir Maui l’omare, Minister of Health, and was assured nothing would be done for a time at least. The minister further stated that there was no need at present for a deputation to wait on him. Mr. Field assured the Minister that the people of Otaki would not allow the matter to rest and would urge, besides keeping the hospital open, to have it made up-to-date so as to cope with the needs of the district.
