ESCAPE FROM GAOL
A LONG SENTENCE PRISONER. New Plymouth, June 11. A prisoner, Walter Batterbee, serving a sentence of eleven years for sexual offences, escaped from New Plymouth prison this afternoon, and is being looked for by search parties 10-niglit. Batterbee was one of a gang working near the gaol. He was sent to the prison to procure implements and used the opportunity to escape. PRISt)XER RECAPTURED. New Plymouth, Last Night. The prisoner who escaped from New Plymouth Goal on Thursday afternoon, Walter Batterbee was captured to-night as lie left an unoccupied hut at Ngamotu Beach.
