The Manawatu Union lias decided that Horowhenua be invited to play Manawatu on Saturday, August 15, with a view to faciliating the selection of the Wellington-Ho-rowhenua-Manawatu match v. New South Wales, on Saturday, August 22, at Palmerston North. It was pointed out that a Wellington selector would no doubt be present for the purpose of watching the former trial. This involved turning down the offer of a game from Wairoa on August 15. The management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union has taken up a proposal to arrange a match between the 1924 and 1925 All Blacks. The matter is being placed before the Rugby Unions throughout the Dominion, with the request for information as to which members of the 1924 team should be available for the proposed fixture. In the event of a decision to play, the intention is to stage the game in Wellington, Wednesday, July 8, the day after the return of the 1925 team from Sydney. Among those of the 1924 team who will not be available are Badeley, MeCleary and Harvey. FOOTBALLERS IN SYDNEY. Sydney, June 10. The New Zealand footballers were given a civic reception at the Town Hall, when there was a large and representative gathering.
