SHUNTING FATALITY

AT PALMERSTON NORTH. A fatal accident occurred in the railway yards, Palmerston North, a| 12.30 a.m. on Monday night, whereby a shunter named Daniel Murphy, aged about 30, a married man, lost his life. Deceased had piloted an engine out of the sheds, and coupled it on to a train. TTe was proceeding to board a. passenger car returning to the sheds, when he was struck bv a moving line of sheep trucks, and fright fully injured. Medical assistance was summoned, Imt deceased died without regaining consciousness, within less than half an hour. Deceased was a native of Dunedin and lias resided in Palmerston N. for seven years. Deceased leaves a wife ami one child.
