CROQUET .
There was a good attendance of members at the Levin Croquet lawns on Saturday afternoon, the occasion being the closing day and presentation of trophies won during the season. Mrs Kirk, in welcoming visitors, said that the inter-club matches had really been a big outstanding feature of the season and these have perhaps done more than anything else to enhance the popularity of the game. Teams of six players from Otaki, Foxton, Shannon and Levin, had taken part. The teams from each club were divided into two singles and two doubles, points in both instances counting. Members feel that these games should improve play and hope they will become a permanent fixture and as time goes on that more clubs will enter.
Foxton were victorious, winning hv default, owing to Shannon Club not contesting against them. The possible number of points in this contest was 312 and the following is the position of the various clubs: — Foxton 291 Otaki 250 Levin 22G Shannon 100
