FORGERY CHARGE.

NEW TRIAL ORDERED. Timarit, May 8. Jamen Murray, an ex-postal of-.a-iai, was charged at the Supreme Court before Mr Justice Adams with having forged the signature of l R. .Macdonald, farm labourer, a I bury, to a Post. Office Savings Bank withdrawal form, by which accused withdrew £2OO from .Macdonald's account, and convened it lo his own use. Accused put forward an elaborate defence, >aying Dial Macdonald had signed the withdrawal form, and had lent accused the £200; having failed to get Tie money repaid, he was now charging Murray witlt having forged the signature.
Macdonald emphatically denied .neiised's statement, and said he iiad never given authority to anyone io withdraw his money.
The jury, after four hours' retirement, disagreed, and a new trial uas ordered for the August sessions. The Court rose at 2 a.m.
