MOTOR LORRY DESTROYED.
BENZINE CONSIGNMENT LOST. A motorist travelling from 1< oxton to Palmerston N. yesterday observed on the roadside a motorlorry which had been destroyed by fire (says the Palmerston N. Standard). The vehicle had apparently been engaged in carrying a consignment of petrol from the port to this centre, and had by some means caught alight. The outbreak had evidently taken place some hours previously, but the debris was still smouldering, while some petrol tins were silent witnesses of the incident. The chasis of the vehicle pointed to the lorry having been one of the approximate value of £I4OO. >
