A PROMISING OUTLOOK.
PROSPECT OF " LIGHT RAILAY AY TO HEADS. Yesterday morning Messrs LinkLiter, M.P., AA r . E. Barber (member of the Foxton Harbour Board), and Mr K. Rangilieuea (Board secretary) met in conference at the local wharf until Mr G. T. Wilson, of the Commercial Branch of the N.Z. Railways. Various questions affecting die working of the port were discussed, after which Mr Wilson submitted a draft agreement for the Board's perusal in connection with the control of traffic, delivery and acceptance of goods, haulage, etc. It. was also decided that the Harbour Board should take over the handling and sorting of goods over the local wharf as from I.lth May, 1325. Messrs Linklater and Barber expressed pleasure at the way in which the affairs of the Board had been discussed and dealt with by the Railway Department, and al the conclusion of the conference, Mi- Linklater motored the part' 1 to the ocean beach in order to point out the room there was for railway development locally. After an inspection of the settlement, Mr AA ilson said he was very favourably impressed, and thought that in the near future a light railway to the Heads would he warranted.
