OUTSIDE THE FOLD.
Auckland, April 15. “We have 17,000 peojile in Auckland who (-all themselves Presbyterians, and only about half of them arc under the cave of our Church,” said Mr Duncan McPherson, at a meeting of -the Auckland Presbytery. Some eighteen months ago Mr McPherson handed £3OO to the Presbytery with a provision that tin l interest should be expended in hunting up lapsed Presbyterians. Although 80 years of age, Mr McPherson spoke with his usual vehemence last night in support, of his request that the interest on that £3OO should he open to any minister for one year to defray the cost ot looking up lapsed Presbyterians, lie said there were often appeals in the churches for the Chinese in the Xew Hebrides and other foreign missions, but he never heard one for a mission to lapsed Presbyterians. The appeal was supported by several members, one remarking of Mv McPherson: “He is a grand old man, and we don't want his £3OO wasted.” The matter was referred to the linance committee to give effect to the wishes of the donor.
