INK IS THICKER THAN WATER. -TRUTH" TROTS OUT A TRIBUTE. “N.Z. Truth” this week makes the following reference to our departing editor: — “Air John Hornblow, editor-pro-prietor <>f the Alanawatu Herald, of Foxton, has many friends all over the North Island, and he is not un km>wn in the South. Therefore the news that he is making his first tour of the world interests many folks. Like most new country newspaper men, ‘J.K.’, as he is familiarly known throughout the Palmerston North area, is a man of varied interests. He is a Justice of the Peace —and earns the magic initials by much service. He is a (fraud Lodge officer in the Alasonic Order, and does his duty frequently at installations even unto the Taranaki district. He is chairman oj; the Foxton School Committee, chairman of the local Eire Board, ex-president of the Chamber of Commerce, and treasurer of the Palmerston North Hospital Board, lie is also an active church worker (Presbyterian), and" no concert’s programme is complete without a contribution musical or elocutionary, from ‘Jack.’ A native of Greytown. born 50 rears ago, he served his time as a printer in the local ‘Standard’ office, and in the course of time —after graduating on the late ‘New Zealand Mail’ in Wellington —he became for a while owner of the paper he served his time on. He has one brother (Andrew) in the printing trade in Wellington, and Brother Bob, Mayor of Dargaville (who was also a printer) is another of the clan. When •J.K.’ reaches New York, on his return trip, he will fraternise with a Cousin Arthur Hornblow, who has the family trait for printers’ ink. Cousin Arthur, by the way, is the biggest Hornblow of them all, for not only is lie editor of that beauteous publication, “The Theatre," but he has won international fame with two very tine comedies —‘The Lion and the Mouse’ and ‘Bought and Paid For,’ both of which have been seen and heard on tour in New Zealand. Good luck go with you, Jack!”
