RESTRICTED RAILWAY SERVICE.
PROTESTS FROM LEVIN. The members of the Levin Chamber of Commerce and Borough Council have entered an emphatic protest against the new railway timetable in rejecting the five-stop schedule between Wellington and Palmerston N. The Chamber of Commerce has‘passed the following resolution :
“That this Chamber learns with great' regret that the Railway Board has turned down the proposal of a five-stop programme for the expresses, and directs the secretary to ask the Borough Council to call a public meeting of protest at an early date, in which the Chamber is prepared to co-operate, against the curtailment of the present railway time-table at which the members for the district, Messrs Field and Linklater, and the Minister' of Railways be invited to attend.” PROTEST MEETING ON MONDAY. The Mayor ■ of Levin will call a meeting to make a public against the railway cut on Monday night. The Foxton Chamber of Commerce and Foxton Borough Council are also supporting Levin’s protest.
